Meet the Founder
In 2022, Jessie made the decision to leave her teaching career and sold her CrossFit® affiliate to fully commit to AMIGOS, a nonprofit dedicated to breaking down barriers to sports and fitness by bringing functional fitness programs directly to students. Her goal is to ensure that every child, regardless of financial means or family schedule, has the opportunity to build confidence, develop healthy habits, and grow through mentorship and community.
Jessie’s educational background plays a central role in shaping her approach to youth development and program design. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Education and a Master’s degree in English Language Development, with a specialization in Trauma-Informed Education. Her work is grounded in the belief that movement and fitness can be powerful tools for whole-child development—not only building physical strength, but also supporting emotional regulation, confidence, and social-emotional learning. Through this approach, students become student athletes who develop a lifelong love of movement and fitness while also learning how to navigate emotions, build healthy relationships, and strengthen essential life skills. Jessie, the AMIGOS Board and Staff & Coaching Team are committed to helping young people grow into resilient, self-aware, and capable adults who can succeed both inside and outside the classroom.
Jessie Dudley-Rangel is the Founder of Organización de Amigos (AMIGOS). While working as a student teacher in Title I schools, she noticed significant disparities in access to sports and extracurricular activities for students from low-income families. This experience inspired her to create programs that provide all children and teens with opportunities to participate, learn, and grow—regardless of their financial situation
Jessie worked as a teacher in the Oregon public school system from 2015 to 2022 and she spent most of her teaching career in Title 1 schools and within the Dual-Immersion Spanish Program. During this time, she noticed a rise in high-risk behaviors among students, many of whom faced challenges with learning disabilities, proccessing trauma, and difficulty coping with stress. Believing that structured physical activity could help address these challenges, she began exploring ways to integrate fitness into youth development within her own classroom.
In the middle of her teaching career, Jessie co-founded and opened a local CrossFit affiliate with the vision of creating a free youth fitness program. Recognizing that financial constraints, transportation challenges, and parents’ busy work schedules often prevented many children from participating, she organized fundraisers to make the program accessible to as many students as possible. As both a teacher and gym owner, Jessie witnessed firsthand the profound impact that physical activity, mentorship, and a supportive community could have on young people’s lives—fueling her commitment to create programs that break down barriers and bring fitness directly to children where they are.
