C4K Fundraiser: Record-Breaking Community Support Fuels Free School-Based Fitness Programs
C4K Comp (CrossFit for Kids) is Organización de Amigos’ biggest annual fundraiser, bringing together local CrossFit gyms and adult athletes to support free after-school fitness programs for elementary students in Oregon.
Back in 2021, the very first C4K Competition took place with 24 teams representing 8 local CrossFit gyms. That first year raised $2,901.30, which purchased a starter pack of youth fitness equipment. With it, six students were introduced to their very first CrossFit class—planting the seed for what would become Organización de Amigos’ school-based youth fitness programs.
Today, five of those original six students are still doing CrossFit—this time, not at a gym, but right inside their own schools through the free after-school programs that Organización de Amigos now runs. Those students, who started as 2nd graders, are now in 6th grade. Recently, some of them participated in their very first youth weightlifting meet. Watching them step out of their comfort zones, be brave, and proudly represent themselves and their schools was incredibly inspiring for us as coaches.
Fast forward to today: C4K Comp 2025 marks our fifth year running this event—and the growth has been incredible to witness. This year, 72 teams from 20 local CrossFit gyms joined the competition. Thanks to athlete registrations, sponsorships, donations, and community support, we’ve already raised $18,000—and the amount will continue to grow as more supporters from both our local community and beyond donate through the Give Butter campaign. Raffle totals haven’t even been added yet!
We are especially grateful to our title sponsor JMI Insurance, as well as sponsors like Latino Partnership Program, Concept2, Marie Lamfrom Foundation, ProTek Automotive, PIE PDX, and Corazón Chiropractic Clinic, along with all the athletes and supporters who contributed through our Give Butter campaign.
The Impact
The success of C4K Comp 2025 makes it possible for us to fulfill our vision for this school year: offering free, school-based after-school fitness programs at four public schools:
Brookwood Elementary (Hillsboro SD)
Lincoln Street Elementary (Hillsboro SD)
Reedville Elementary (Hillsboro SD)
Aloha Huber Park K-8 (Beaverton SD)
Our certified CrossFit coaches bring equipment directly into schools—or use equipment purchased through grants awarded to the schools—and lead classes of 14–18 students. These classes are about much more than exercise. Students learn how to move safely and effectively, build confidence, work as a team, and discover the joy of fitness through games, workouts, and play.
Beyond the weekly classes, our students also get opportunities to explore new experiences. From field trips like last year’s rock climbing adventure to competitions like the youth weightlifting meet, these moments allow them to challenge themselves, express their competitive spirit, and grow in courage and resilience.
Why It Matters
Every dollar raised at C4K Comp goes directly back into our programs. What started with six students in 2021 has now grown into a movement—dozens of kids each week, across multiple schools, discovering the power of movement, teamwork, and self-confidence.
None of this would be possible without the community that shows up year after year to support our mission. Together, we are building more than athletes—we’re building confidence, friendships, and lifelong healthy habits.
If you’d like to be part of this impact, you can support our work directly through our Givebutter campaign. Every contribution helps us bring fitness, mentorship, and opportunity to more kids in our community.
Thank you to everyone who made C4K Comp 2025 our biggest and most impactful year yet. We can’t wait to see what the future holds.
